Dr Chisom Madu

Dr Madu offers ADHD diagnostic assessments and treatment at Augmentive, working with adults seeking clarity and support. He trained and qualified in medicine in Nigeria, spending over seven years there managing medical, surgical and mental health conditions in a range of settings, before relocating to the UK to specialise in psychiatry. In the years since, he has worked extensively with complex presentations including ADHD, personality disorder, cPTSD, eating disorders, schizophrenia and severe depression.

He combines his work at Augmentive with his NHS role with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. In this community-based role, he assesses and treats adults with a broad range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, personality difficulties and other complex presentations. He works closely with a multidisciplinary team to undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribe and review psychotropic medication, assess and manage clinical risk, and coordinate care with GPs and other specialist services. His ADHD work covers the full pathway: assessment and diagnosis with careful attention to co-morbidities and risk, medication prescribing and titration, ongoing monitoring of treatment response, and the psychoeducation and post-diagnostic support that help patients and their families make sense of what a diagnosis means for them.

Meticulous and patient-centred, with a longstanding commitment to humanitarian work, he believes every contact is an opportunity to deliver the best possible care, and finds real reward in helping people understand their ADHD and move forward with the right support in place.
