About Antigoni

I am creative, person-centred and evidenced based Dance Movement Psychotherapist (RDMP), and UKCP registered trainee, using integrative and humanistic approaches, working online but also face to face from in different areas across London. I am highly passionate about my job, and I enjoy supporting vulnerable individuals to reach their full potential in life. I am able to face extremely challenging situations while working with perplexing cases and profound trauma and I can remain calm under pressuring circumstances, providing useful aid to my clients and making them feel that they are always heard, seen and in a safe place to express their inner worries and disturbing emotions. I receive clinical supervision twice a month with an accredited UKCP- ADMP supervisor.

In 2018-2019 I have worked for Upbeat Communities with female refugees/asylum seekers that suffered brain injury, had undergone domestic violence and neglect, as well as chronic sexual abuse that resulted in serious suicidal ideation. I took on a case of a female with severe medically unexplained symptoms

I have offered my voluntary services to Middle Street Resource Community Centre (2020) where adult clients of diverse age range dealt with serious mental health issues, such as personality disorders, paranoia, severe suicidal ideation and depression, motor impairment issues, bereavement, learning disabilities, etc.

I have delivered one to one dance movement psychotherapy sessions, mixed with a lot of trauma informed and psychoeducation elements, to children and youth residents of Pathways Residential Care. I have worked with cases of gang crime, addiction from drug use/ drug induced psychosis, grooming and sexual abuse, schizophrenia onset, PTSD, severe neglect and ASD/developmental delay.

Last but not least, I have also been working for Richmond Fellowship, delivering CBT mental health recovery support sessions to adults that are in the spiral of mental health crisis as well as constructing safety plans to help them cope with everyday life stressors effectively.

Writing professional case notes, clinical monthly reports and referrals has been integral part of my work. I am also trained to construct clinical notes for the court to provide evidence of therapy progress of a client.

Planning/modifying art-based assessments, tailored to the unique needs, developmental stage, age, gender, religious, cultural background and population characteristics as well as running set clinical assessments is one of my primary aims in therapy. I am also able to complete evidenced based assessments if needed.

I am an advocator of the belief that everyone can be healed and find their own unique pathway in life, regardless of the level and number of hardships and past traumatic experiences that they have experienced, since I think that humans are capable of constructing their own happiness with success if they discover the power that lies within them. The chemistry between therapist and client, a strong therapeutic relationship based in respect, empathy, transparency and kindness, the willingness of the client to shape their own goals and aims within the therapy context as well as the passion and dedication of the therapist, play a paramount role to the progress, blossoming and evolution of the individual and are the key principles which I chose to centre my therapy work around.

I would like to share a quote that in my opinion is quite insightful and I believe it helps troubled individuals that are surrounded by several types of difficulties to realise that they might start feeling worse before they get better, but this is not a sign of failure, it is a sign of emerged progress in the therapy context. To explore a better psychological health, we have to dig into painful memories, but this is what make people stronger- finding out what actually happened to them and start working towards a more profound relationship with the self, a discovery of capabilities, skills and talents, that will all eventually contribute to the desired wellbeing as well as mental and emotional stability: ~New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings- Lao Tzu
