You might be struggling with difficult feelings like anxiety, depression, low moods or relationship issues, losses and need some support understanding what is going on for you. You might just be feeling unsatisfied with life and feel something is wrong and need to speak about this. You don’t have to be in crisis to seek therapy. I can provide a safe, welcoming and non judgemental space where you can talk about what's causing problems in your life and together we can find ways to make your life more stress free, comfortable and fulfilling.
The difference careful and empathic listening can make to a client's self understanding and to their symptoms can be life changing! Therapy is really about the working relationship, the emotional bond we have and if that feels supportive and safe then many positive changes can and do happen.
I like to work relationally and interpersonally in that I will endeavour to understand you from inside your lived experience and share that with you and how your personal relational context is very significant. Relationships with others? How do others see me? Am I good enough? Am I worth something? What happens to me? When the answers aren't good, you feel bad about yourself and this can wear you down.
'Our self image is often formulated by the reflected appraisals we perceive in the eyes of important figures in our life.' Yalom
I have worked with clients with many issues like isolation, addictions, depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, low self worth, major loss and bereavement, relationship break-ups/ difficulties, work/life balance and work related problems. My approach is integrative which means I can work with many different approaches to find the best way that suits you.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a teacher with young and mature adults for many years and saw that the most valuable learning happens when students feel heard and valued. I now bring that non-judgmental attention to my therapeutic work.
