If any of the below resonates with you, then please contact me and we will arrange a free Teams Video meeting to discuss how I might help you.
Hello, my name is Dr Richard Mason. I am an experienced counsellor and psychological therapist having worked across a variety of private and public sector organisations over 25 years. Clients describe me as being an approachable, grounded, common-sense counsellor, psychological therapist, and coach. I work from a pluralistic perspective, embracing psychotherapeutic knowledge and interventions across the humanistic/medicalised spectrum, drawing on and utilising my professional knowledge and experiences from working in NHS Primary Care Mental Health Services, Higher Educational Counselling Services, and Private Practice. The main areas in which I work are struggles with mood (depression), fear (anxiety), relationship problems, and bereavement.
My main aim is to provide you with the help and support you currently need and then build on our results. In the early stages of our work, we will explore the issues that are causing you distress, or in coaching terms what aspect of your development you would like to work on. We would then consider what your options are for improving those issues, and crucially, how those options might help at that time. When working with me in a therapy perspective, the focus is on emotional well-being, problems, and functioning as opposed to (but not excluding) the diagnoses of mental illnesses i.e., anxiety and depression. In a coaching perspective, what aspects of yourself you would like to develop.
Currently, in the UK coaching industry, practitioners do not need qualifications. I recognise the importance of qualifications; therefore, I am presently completing an Advanced Diploma in coaching validated by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). This will also accredit me as a Senior Accredited Coach with EMCC. My current fees for coaching are set appropriately, to reflect my development in that regard.
In therapy, I have Diploma, Masters and Doctorate qualifications in counselling and psychotherapy. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been published in professional and academic journals on the subject of counselling and psychological therapy. I work with adults (18 years plus) only and look forward to meeting with you.
