About Paul

Hi, I'm Paul.

I'm a fully qualified and BACP registered Counsellor, and that means not only that I have nationally recognised qualifications but that I subscribe to a code of ethics, am insured, have regular supervision and engage in a process of continuing professional development to ensure that my skills and knowledge are kept up to date.

I will support you utilising a variety of approaches which I am more than happy to talk you through in detail, but broadly speaking I am a person-centred, integrative therapist which means that every thing I do is focussed on you and on your story, and in order to help I will draw from different theories and perspectives to find the best fit for you.

I’m holistic, looking at all aspects of your life: mind, body and spirit. I’m eclectic, drawing from years of my own clinical training, client work, and life experience. I’m a learner, continuing to research and attend training and “geek-out” on resources to enhance my therapy skills.

I am a qualified meditation and mindfulness teacher and can integrate this into sessions if you think that may help

I provide effective Counselling and Psychotherapy both online and face to face locally.

My Outlook

I truly believe your life and your relationships can get better! It will take work, and some time, but it ABSOLUTELY is possible, and I’m here to help you make that happen. If what you are currently doing isn't working for you, let's try something else.

I view my work with clients as being collaborative. I believe you bring a lot to the table already, and I want to walk with you through this process.

My clients appreciate that I offer a ton of support and make them feel safe in therapy, but I don’t shy away from giving direct feedback and ideas, or challenging a thought or belief that might be getting in the way of progress. I like to hear about your life and your relationships, past and present, believing that they hold many keys to your breakthroughs. I’ll provide tools and strategies as needed, and perhaps a book recommendation… or two.

It is increasingly recognised that the most important thing in therapy is the relationship or the 'fit' between the client and the therapist and that's why I offer a free 20 min consultation so you can get some idea of whether you want to work with me or not.
