About Paul

I work as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and am a registered member of the BABCP. I have worked in the NHS since 2009 and have supported and treated individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. I graduated in Psychology in 2008 and subsequently gained employment as a Support Worker in Early Intervention in Psychosis. During this spell, I broadened my clinical expertise by working as an honorary assistant psychologist and developing an interest in psychotherapeutic work, gaining Post Graduate Diplomas, first as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, and then as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I have experience in treating a range of mental health difficulties such as; Depression, OCD, Social Anxiety, Specific Phobias, Panic Disorder, Health Anxiety, PTSD & Generalised Anxiety Disorder. I have experience of delivering Cognitive-Behavioural techniques which have a strong evidence base.

I see myself as a reflective practitioner, who likes to explore the meaning behind thoughts and behaviours and how they affect us emotionally. I believe in a highly collaborative approach, with the client actively shaping their treatment and future outcomes. I place a strong emphasis on an eclectic approach, drawing on all aspects of my training and enjoy being creative in the techniques I deliver. I also look to bring in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused techniques where appropriate.

  • ""Was very helpful overall, the sessions really helped me to have more confidence in myself and my choices. I realised that it's Okay to do things I enjoy and the more I practice and expose myself to situations the easier they'll become; was just very helpful to talk to someone who actually listened to my problems and had a genuine belief I can do well in my work".
