Dr Kapil Bakshi

Dr Kapil Bakshi is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. At Augmentive, he specialises in adult ADHD – helping individuals better understand their symptoms and access tailored, evidence-based support. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych), a registered specialist in General Adult and Substance Misuse Psychiatry, and an Approved Clinician under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act. Alongside his private practice, he holds senior positions within the NHS and serves on the Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (Eastern Division). He is also on the Board of a national charity supporting people affected by mental illness and addiction.Dr Bakshi brings a deep, intersectional understanding to diagnosis – with particular insight into how ADHD can present differently across genders.

“The manifestations of ADHD are different between men and women. For example, women are more inattentive rather than hyperactive. Because hyperactivity is a clear manifestation and is very observable, the rates of misdiagnosis in women in the past were higher.”

His clinical interests span ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD and complex trauma, psychosis, personality disorders, addiction, and perinatal mental health. He works with adults aged 18 to 65 and does not offer assessments for older adults.
