I am an experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist and a BPS RAPPS registered clinical supervisor. I work in a collaborative, flexible, client-centred and integrative way. I tailor my therapeutic approach to suit individual needs, goals and preferences and I offer a warm and welcoming approach, where we will work together at a pace that suits you. I encourage clients to play an active role in therapy, which I believe is key to making progress. Seeking psychological support to explore, manage and make sense of life's challenges and complexities can facilitate growth, understanding and change. Join me and together we can help you work through the challenges that have brought you here today.
I have supported individuals experiencing stress, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, OCD, relationship difficulties, and trauma. Through integration, I draw on a range of evidence-based psychotherapeutic models including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-focussed Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, and Transactional Analysis.
I currently work as an independent practitioner psychologist in my private practice The PsychologySmith, and as Professional Development Tutor on the Professional Doctorate in counselling psychology programme at Glasgow Caledonian University.
