I'm a BACP registered integrative psychotherapist, this means that I combine ways of working from different theoretical approaches and schools of thought in order to best meet a client’s changing needs as we progress. I offer a non judgemental space to help you deal with any immediate issues that are causing you suffering. We work with the 'here & now' but also with the past in order to try to understand what makes you the person you are today. You may be experiencing grief, anxiety or overwhelm; perhaps you are experiencing a feeling of unreality or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. Some of what you are experiencing perhaps cannot be changed but you can learn to adapt, tolerate difficult emotions and ultimately navigate the ups and downs which are part of life.
How does therapy work?
Therapy is a helping relationship based on exploration of issues/problems, increased awareness and understanding, thus empowering the client to make the appropriate choices and decisions in their life. Therapists do not give advice as this goes against the principle of empowering the client. Regardless of a modality of therapy, research shows that it’s an authentic and empathic therapeutic relationship that is absolutely at the core of successful therapy.
