About Ian

Welcome! My name is Ian. I have been a counselling practitioner for over 30 years. I was originally trained in person-centred counselling but now use a range of integrated approaches to meet your needs and help make the changes you seek to make.

When life circumstances are overwhelming or relationships break down, it can damage our sense of personal confidence, purpose and meaning for life, as well as our self-worth. I will offer you a safe, compassionate and supportive online counselling space where you can talk things through, reflect, and reframe your experience, to hopefully discover that whatever you've gone through can become a doorway to renewed hope, personal growth and relationship transformation.

I worked as a GP Practice Counsellor within the NHS for more than 11 years, and I have been a counsellor and 'people care' consultant for 30+ years, supporting wellbeing and resilience for people working cross-culturally with humanitarian aid organisations and other INGOs (International Non-Governmental Organisations) around the world, helping them deal with complex traumatic situations and handle the considerable stresses of their work.

My passion is to see people thrive by enhancing their wellbeing and resilience in mind, body, emotions, soul and in their personal and work-based relationships.

Along with my counselling qualification I hold a Masters in Psychological Trauma and have been privileged to support many people through the trauma of war, poverty and natural disasters.

My work with organisations is geared towards addressing personal, team and organisational resilience, helping them to both prevent and respond to stressors in order to mitigate the risk of burnout and relationship blow-outs. I can help design wellbeing and pastoral care packages that will reduce attrition and improve retention of staff.

As a supervisor, I give counsellors a safe, supportive learning space to talk about their practice while offering genuine interest, challenge and insight.

I look forward to meeting with you and joining you on your journey.
