Hello, my name is Emma and I am a BACP [British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy] accredited counsellor and a Professional [Level 2] Member of ACTO [Association for Counsellors and Therapists Online] having completed specialist training in online counselling.
People often say they come to me because they want more of a proactive counselling approach - to that end I do a lot of psycho education, together with more practical work including CBT [Cognitive Behavioural Therapy], mindfulness and lifestyle assessments.
This approach means I can help you with a range of issues including stress, low mood, anxiety, low self esteem, relationships, loss, anger and trauma. If you are wondering how many sessions you might need the answer is - it depends - needless to say I do long and short term work, and even one off sessions.
I have a media background, having spent 10 years making television programmes for the BBC before moving on to become a writer specialising in disability, mental and physical health. I decided to train to become a counsellor once both my children had started school and I decided to specialise in providing online therapy in 2017.
Because of my career background I have specialist experience and knowledge of disability, carer, health, student and gender dysphoria issues; I also have lived experience of rare disability and carer issues.
You can have sessions via video call, text [no video/sound], or email [they are in order of popularity!]. Video and email sessions are 50 minutes long and text sessions are 60 minutes; sessions cost £58/session.
