About Alison


My name is Alison Louis and I specialise in helping people work through their difficult thoughts and feelings so they can move on with their lives with confidence.

Life is messy, and confusing and throws us curved balls just when we are not expecting them. All of which can bring anxiety, stress, sadness, confusion, disappointment and stir up unwelcome thoughts and feelings. Friends and family aren’t always able to help, which can bring feelings of loneliness and isolation which make it hard to know what to do or how to be.

I can help by working with you to gain some clarity and understanding of your choices, and help figure out the best way forward for you, with whatever you might be struggling.

I have been working in private practice as a therapist for the last 11+ years, after gaining my MA in Clinical Counselling. During that time I have worked with many clients, with a wide range of issues.

Notably stress, sadness, anger, confusion, anxiety, overwhelming thoughts or feelings due to variety of issues such as relationship problems, bereavement, pet bereavement, OCD, Eating Disorders, loss of things held dear, life transitions or things just not going as expected.

I was trained in the person-centred approach for my MA in Clinical Counselling. After that I completed training in a variety of other approaches- CBT, Transactional Analysis Theory, Gestalt, Control Therapy, Group work and other professional development courses which I have integrated in my practice. My approach is to centre on my client and use whatever resource is useful and helpful. I am a registered member of the BACP.
