Dr Alan Cross is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 25 years’ experience in adult mental health and more than 15 years specialising in Adult ADHD.


He has assessed and supported thousands of adults with ADHD, including professionals, parents, students, entrepreneurs and creatives, as well as people whose difficulties have remained unrecognised for many years.


Dr Cross offers detailed, evidence-informed ADHD assessments that look beyond a checklist. His approach considers developmental history, education and work, relationships, daily functioning and co-occurring difficulties that may overlap with, complicate or resemble ADHD.


He has particular expertise in complex Adult ADHD presentations, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, addiction, stimulant suitability and safe prescribing. As a Consultant Psychiatrist with specialist training in Addiction Psychiatry, he takes a careful and balanced approach to treatment, including medication where appropriate.


Dr Cross previously worked extensively as an Adult ADHD assessor for Psychiatry-UK and now provides online Adult ADHD assessments through Diverse Diagnostics and Augmentive.


He also founded Neurohaven (dot co dot uk) , a free community platform providing accessible and stigma-free information about ADHD, neurodivergence and mental health.


Dr Cross has lived experience of ADHD. Combined with clinical expertise, this informs an approach that is compassionate, direct and neurodiversity-informed. The aim is not simply to provide a diagnosis, but to help people understand themselves more clearly and to thrive.
