How much does a private autism assessment cost in the UK?
If you're considering a private autism assessment, it's helpful to understand what's involved and what to expect in terms of cost. Here's a clear breakdown of the process, pricing, and what happens next.
What does a private autism assessment involve?
At Augmentive, private autism assessments start from £950. Each assessment includes a two-hour appointment with one of our consultant psychiatrists who specialises in autism. Before your appointment, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire about your experience, along with an additional form from someone who knows you well (such as a partner, parent or close friend).
Your specialist will review these forms ahead of time to fully understand your profile. During the assessment, they’ll ask questions, explore your history, and assess how autism may present in your day-to-day life. You’ll typically receive a verbal outcome during the session, and a comprehensive diagnostic report afterwards.
All of our specialists are on the GMC’s Specialist Register, ensuring you're seen by an expert with deep clinical knowledge and experience.

What happens after the assessment?
If autism is diagnosed, your report will include a clear explanation of your strengths and challenges, as well as an action plan tailored to your needs. Some people choose to follow up with therapy, coaching or occupational support – all of which can be arranged through our platform.
We also provide documentation to support access to workplace or educational accommodations where relevant.
Summary of typical costs
- Autism Assessment: from £950 (two-hour appointment)
- Optional follow-ups: priced individually depending on the type of support
Why choose a private autism assessment?
Many people choose to go private because NHS wait times can be long – often over a year. A private assessment means faster clarity, and the ability to take action sooner. Appointments are typically available within 48 hours.
If you're feeling stuck or unsure, an autism diagnosis can be the first step to understanding your mind and building the right support around you. It’s not just about having an answer – it’s about having a plan.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Our autism specialists are here to help you take that first step with confidence and clarity.
